Reiki: rei·ki | ˈrākē | noun
• a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the client’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being
Reiki is an energetic technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes spiritual and physical healing. We know Reiki of at least 4 types were in existence in Japan when Usui Reiki, the type I practice, was discovered by Mikao Usui Sensei in 1922. He taught 2000 students before his death and from there his students eventually carried Reiki to the entire world. Reiki came to the west when Mrs. Hawaya Takata emigrated to Hawaii, from there her students expanded the teachings to the Mainland.
Reiki can be administered in person by “laying on hands”, which is actually an approximation, as the hands can touch and/or hover a few inches above the Client’s body. Reiki can even be received remotely from Master Practitioners specially trained in performing Distance Reiki through a focused energetic exchange from the Practitioner to the Client. Reiki is based on the idea that Ki an unseen “life force energy” flows through all of us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s Ki or “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “universal” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually spiritually guided “universal life force energy”. A treatment feels like being infused and suffused with a wonderfully calming and centering energetic radiance that flows through and around you. In addition to an infusion of energy you may also feel the treatment physically. Our Client’s have reported everything from feeling warmth or heat, buzzing, vibrations and a gentle sense of peace.
Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of energetic healing and self-improvement that everyone can use from Stay at Home Moms to Busy Professionals, Athletes to our Elders. It is not a replacement for traditional medical treatment but it is supportive of modern medicine and works beautifully in conjunction with medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects of treatment and promote speedy and full recovery from injury and illness.

Guided Meditation: Guided Meditation is a Mindfulness exercise, typically led by a Narrator, that can be administered in person or from distance. It differs from other types of meditation that you are encouraged to be anchored in the Present and Focused as opposed to emptying your mind of conscious thought. It’s a wonderful practice that can be done alone or in groups and works in concert with a traditional meditative practice or as a stand alone modality. We offer both in-person and virtual, one on one and group meditations and we can also customize an individualized meditation tailored to your specific circumstances.
Have you ever seen a Vegas style hypnosis show filled with people flapping their arms like birds or barking like dogs? Those shows are usually raucously fun and hilarious but they are purely for entertainment and have almost nothing in common with Clinical Hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy, also referred to as guided hypnosis, is a form of therapy that uses relaxation, extreme concentration, and intense attention to achieve an altered state of consciousness or mindfulness. In other words, it places the individual into an altered state of awareness in which you have heightened focus and concentration. Hypnosis is usually done with the help of a hypnotherapist using verbal repetition and mental images. When you’re under hypnosis, you usually feel calm and relaxed, and are more open to suggestions but contrary to popular belief you are always awake and in full control of yourself. This form of therapy is considered alternative medicine with the purpose of utilizing one’s mind to help reduce, alleviate or help gain control over a variety of issues, such as stress, anxiety, phobias, chronic pain or illness, undesired behaviors or negative habits (i.e. smoking cessation and/or weight loss). Hypnotherapy is also useful as a reinforcement tool, as it is useful in assisting clients to visualize goals and see themselves achieving their most desired outcomes. The aim of hypnotherapy is to create a POSITIVE shift in an individual’s way of thinking
As a Life Coach, it is both our job and my pleasure to encourage and counsel clients on how they can go about achieving a range of professional and personal goals. Life Coaching is distinct from giving advice, consulting, counseling, mentoring, and administering therapy in that you typically hire a Coach to help you achieve specific professional and personal goals. Through several Coaching methods we will help you grow by analyzing your current situation, identifying any limiting beliefs or other potential challenges or obstacles you may face, and then assist you in devising a custom plan of action designed to help you achieve those specific outcomes in your life. Coaching sessions can be scheduled one-off, as needed, or in a multi-session bundle for use over a specific time frame.
